Obituary:Julia "Nanny" Cook, 90 of Elkmont, Alabama died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Ardmore on Main in Ardmore, Tennessee. Born Wednesday, November 9, 1921 in Moulton, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Silas Dinsmore Burch and the late Pearl Free Burch.
Mrs. Cook was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church. She had been a lunchroom worker for the Madison County and Huntsville City Board of Education for over 32 years. She was a wonderful cook, loved her family, and was always doing something for someone else. She also was a volunteer for CHO. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband: William Edward Cook.
Surviving are sons, Barry (Nancy) Cook of Elkmont, AL and Greg (Brenda) Cook of Athens, AL, daughters, Sandra (Horace) Marberry of Toney, AL, Edith (Todd) Jorgensen of Eustis, FL and Regina (Dwight) Gates of Elkmont, AL, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Steve Hargrove. Bro. Mike Clark, and Will Lipscomb officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove Cemetery, Toney, AL.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
