Mr. Robert Earl Hamley age 70, of Rome, GA, died February 23, 2012.
Mr. Hamley was born in Athens, AL, on February 14, 1942, the son of the late Raymond Hamley and Lorene McCowan Hamley. He retired from the Bricklayers and Allied Craftmans Local Union #33 and was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamley was preceded in death by his wife, Ophenia Hamley; a son, Robert Earl Hamley, Jr.; two brothers, James and Larry Hamley; and a sister, Linda Amerson.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond and Robin Hamley of Huntsville, AL, Michael and Doris Hamley of Huntsville, AL, and Dr. Chris Hamley of Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Oliver and Toni Hamley of Huntsville, AL; and a sister and brother-in-law, Annette Lewis Wales and Jimmy Wales of Elkmont, AL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 25, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. (EST) in the Oaknoll Chapel of the Miller & Richards Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral hour in the Oaknoll Chapel.
