The funeral for Charlie Franklin Kelley Jr., 79, of Athens will be at noon Monday at Spry Funeral Home with Alton Downs officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Creek Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Kelley passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, at Athens-Limestone Hospital. Charlie Kelley was born and raised in Limestone County. He worked as a farmer for many years before working for John Blue Company for 40 years. He was the most gentle and easygoing person; everyone who knew him loved and admired him. He was a member of the Baptist church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Kelley Sr. and Ethel Defoe Kelley; and a brother, Edward Kelley.
Survivors include his wife, Bessie Kelley of Athens; sons, Ricky Kelley and wife Brenda, Barry Kelley and wife Kim, all of Athens, and Frankie Kelley and wife Patricia of Elkmont; daughters, Ann Hall and husband Wayne, Lisa Sulkowski and husband Darrell, Pamela Meredith and husband Scott, and Vickie Kelley and fiancé Jared Keith, all of Athens; sisters, Louise Messer, Mary Summers, Margaret Tatum, Reba Chambers and Rebecca Moss, all of Athens, and Betty Chambers of Hartselle; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
