ELKMONT CROSS COUNTRY AT CHICKASAW TRAILS

Elkmont will be competing at Oakville’s Jesse Owens Park, Chickasaw Trails, Saturday.  This is a major event and will give the Red Devils a look at the possible state competition later this fall.  They did very well in their first two meets.

According to event coordinator Stanley Johnson, who is also Lawrence County High’s cross country coach, over a 100 teams and more than 3300 athletes are expected to compete in this weekend’s event.

The Oakville-based park also hosts the Jesse Owens Classic, the Northwest Alabama Championships and the AHSAA State Championships.

The Running Red Devils return to action early Saturday morning at the Chickasaw Trails Invitational at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park.  This is a FANTASTIC course with plenty of hills to challenge the runners.

Elkmont runners will take to the course as follows:
JV Girls (2.1 Miles) - 8:30 am
JV Boys (2.1 Miles) - 8:45 am
Varsity Girls (5K) - 9:00 am
Varsity Boys (5K) - 10:10 am
