Born Sunday, January 23, 1927 in Huntsville, Alabama, he was the son of the late John Thomas Bagsby and the late Ruthie Wilson Calahan Bagsby. He was a member of New Hope Primitive Baptist Church and loved farming and being with Family. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Sam Bagsby, and a son: Delmer Eugene Bagsby, and sister Myrtle Haggermaker. Surviving are his wife: Joy Brown Bagsby of Toney, Alabama; sons, James (Martha) Bagsby of Huntsville, AL, Billy Bagsby of Toney, AL, Stanley (Linda) Bagsby of Hazel Green, AL, David Bagsby of Huntsville, AL and Roger Bagsby and friend Teppi McBride of Toney, AL, daughters, Shirley (Jerry) Bryant of Toney, AL, Sharon (Craig) Quillin of Elkmont, AL, Martha (Terry) Thomas of Athens, AL and Diane Root & friend John Poland of New Market, AL, adopted son: Jeff Keller of Huntsville, AL, brother, J. T. Bagsby & friend Alta Patterson of Hazel Green, AL, sisters, Naomi Bagsby of Hazel Green, AL and Margaret (Calvin) McClusky of Elkmont, AL, 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Lynn Marshall and Bro. Gary Heard officiating. Burial will be in Legg Cemetery, Elkmont, AL. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, 27186 Main Street, Ardmore, Alabama. They also request in lieu of flowers donations be made to Southern Care Hospice.
