The Elkmont scholar bowl team was competing in The University of Alabama (UAH) Honors
College's 2015 Alabama Scholastic Competition Association
(ASCA) District High School Scholars Bowl, Friday, Feb. 13.
The
ASCA Scholars Bowl is a jeopardy-like game comprised of five rounds,
that challenges students' memory and knowledge in the subjects of
science, mathematics, history, arts, culture, geography and literature.
"Students
participating in the Scholars Bowl spend fall semester preparing for
competitions, and then begin competing in January in local high school
contests. The competition hosted at UAH is a district contest and the
winners move on to regional, and state competitions," said Bethany
Wilson, a coordinator in the UAH Honors College.

Sparkman High School
West Limestone High School
Round 1:
Lost to Buckhorn High School, 220-440.
Round 2:
Won against Ardmore 250-190,
Round 3:
Won against East Limestone, 235-175
Round 4:
Lost to James Clemmons, 235-425.

Our team represented itself well, especially when playing similar size schools. They will be advancing to the Small School State Competition Saturday, Feb 28th at Hoover High School in Birmingham. Wish them the best and hoping they bring home the gold.
