We are used to having some spring weather by now but don't plan on putting that garden in anytime soon. Elkmont is going to have a short warmup this weekend and then winter will be back. It will be cool to cold the next few weeks. How cold? The maps don't agree. I'm planning for very cold.

While this weekend will be messy, don't think it will be a long term thing. However, later next week and maybe into the first of March, there is a good chance of winter weather. There will be plenty of moisture for the cold to work with. Hill Spirit has seen some maps that still have snow on the ground for us into March 7. Hope that changes; can't wait for those spring warm temperatures.

Hill Spirit looks at the weather information at least a week or more out and plan for the worst case. If you do too, you will have time to get ready before everyone gets crazy. Two things will happen either you get the chance to be pleasantly surprised when the weather doesn't happen or if it does, you don't have to worry and you can help your neighbor. Preparing just when the weather man says the sky is falling will surely cause you to run here and there and not know what to do.
