Joseph Holland Maroney, 87 of Elkmont, Alabama died on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama.


Born Tuesday, December 27, 1927 in Huntsville, Alabama, he was the son of the late Allen Richard Maroney and the late Ivy Bell Hutto Maroney. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife: Jo Nell Orr Maroney, brothers: Gilbert Maroney, Ralph Maroney, and Richard Maroney, and sisters: Margaret Luna, Lydia Mills, and Cleo Wells. He was retired from the US Navy, serving in both WWII and the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are brothers, Derrell Maroney of Blanche, TN and Rex (Inge) Maroney of Elkmont, AL, and sister-in-law: Mildred Maroney and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Steve Hargrove officiating. Burial will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens, Huntsville, AL.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
