SEVERE WEATHER OUTLOOK

It looks like it will warm up this week but the rest of March should be cooler than average. However, we live in Alabama so it will warm up.   Here are two forecasts for the rest of Spring.

WEATHERBELL'S JOE BASTARDI:
This is Hill Spirit's "go to" forecaster. He is really good at longer range predictions. Last chance of cold from March 20 - April 10. Then watch out, 45 days of above normal temperatures.

"Major intrusions of cold into the plains and rockies will continue well into the spring this year,  a major flip in mean 500 mb pattern due to the seasonal evolution of the jet and the result should be a furious 45 day of severe weather, especially compared to the past 2 years which have been lame."

Not good for those of us who worry about severe weather.  He says it will be a very active season, possibility of a 2011 type Spring. Be thinking of your severe weather plans and start preparing now before the sirens start sounding.

WHAT DOES ACCUWEATHER PREDICT:
By April and May, severe weather will work its way into the Tennessee Valley. The number of spring severe weather events has been below normal for the past couple of years, especially the number of tornadoes. Warmer air will be more widespread across the country this season, increasing the instability of the atmosphere. Accuweather predicts more tornadoes for the spring season compared to the last couple of years, with it really picking up in April and May in the more traditional areas down south.
