LEARNING TO HELP STARTS EARLY
Elkmont's Girl Scout Troop 1134 was one of 57 volunteer groups helping clean up the Elk River Saturday as part of an annual effort organized by Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
The troop worked for three years to remove an old television from the ground and finally collected it Saturday. About 7,380 pounds of trash was collected from eight land areas during the event. Two boats and a few canoes also collected trash on the river.
