PLAY GOLF AND HELF FUND A SCHOLARSHIP

Area golfers with a heart for helping others are encouraged to sign up for the Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame's annual golf tournament. The tournament will be held Saturday, June 24, at Southern Gayles Golf Course, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $240 per four-man team and registration is open until June 23. "This is our big fundraiser … and the money that is raised here helps fund scholarships," said Barry Devine, event spokesman.

One of this year's recipients is Elkmont's Karley Menefee. She graduated in May with a GPA above 4.0. Limestone County Sports Hall of Fame honored Karley's achievement with a  $3,000 scholarship.

Karley Menefee is the daughter of Anesia Menefee and the late Bruce Menefee.  She has been a Lady Devil for six years on the basketball and volleyball teams.

In the fall, Karley plans to attend the University of Alabama is Huntsville and persue a degree in kinesiology.
