HOW DID THE EKMONT CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS DO AT THE STATE MEET?

Kenley Crouch ended her senior cross-county season with a ninth-place overall finish during the Class 4A girls race at the state meet at Oakville Indian Mounds Saturday.

Crouch, who has been running for her brother Kyle who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, finished with a time of 21:21. Teammate Reilly Hooie was 24th overall at 22:42. Overall, the Lady Wildcats finished 10th as a team.

Ardmore’s Peyton Randolph, who qualified as an individual, was 29th at 22:52.

Meanwhile, in the 4A boys race, West Limestone placed fifth out of 11 teams behind top 25 performances from Ramon Quiroz and Jordan Romine. Quiroz was 23rd individually at 18:44. Romine was 25th at 18:51.

In Class 5A, the Athens High boys placed sixth out of 14 teams. Tate Carden was the first to cross the finish line, finishing 14th individually at 17:23. Teammate Cameron Dorning was 19th at 17:35.

Alison Jay, who was the only member of the Clements girls team to qualify, finished 28th at 21:34 in the 3A meet. Jensen Pugh of Elkmont was the first Red Devil runner to finish, placing 69th at 23:26. The Lady Red Devils were 11th out of 12 teams.

Tyler Helms paced the Elkmont boys team to ninth out of 12 teams competing with a 19th place individual finish at 18:04, followed by Adam McMahan in 29th at 18:32.

Individually qualifying for Athens Bible in the Class 1A girls race were Becca Harwell, who was 45th at 23:16, and Ashley Riggins, 50th at 23:25. Dalton Adams was 62nd in the boys race at 19:28.  Teammate Walt Purner was 94th at 20:29.
