WINSTON SMITH MORRIS - OBITUARY

The funeral for Winston Smith Morris, 90, of Elkmont will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at McConnell Funeral Home with Steve Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.  Visitation is from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Morris passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at Huntsville Hospital.

Winston Morris was born March 1, 1921, in Limestone County to John Dee Morris and Laura Elizabeth Smith Morris. Mr. Morris was a member of Elkmont Church of Christ. He was a veteran of World War II, member of the Elkmont Lions Club, participant of World War II veteran Honor Flight, enjoyed cattle farming and spent many years working in a family-owned cotton gin. He was the longtime caretaker of Antioch Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Doris Marks Morris.

Mr. Morris is survived by his son, John W. Morris and wife Donna of Elkmont; daughter, Amelia Smith and husband Lester of Elkmont; four grandchildren, Jay Smith, Wyn Smith, Laura Morris and Will Morris; and special friend, Betty Dubois.

Pallbearers will be Jay Smith, Wyn Smith, Will Morris, Tom Carter, Dickie Hobbs and Wade Bates.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Wingard and Lester Anderson.
