Obituary:

Opal Irene Scoggins, 90 of Elkmont, Alabama died on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Born Thursday, April 12, 1923, in Elkmont, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Henry Lee McCown and the late Rosa Myrtle Jordan McCown. She was a lifelong resident of Limestone County and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for over 60 years. She was a loving wife and mother and worked as a beautician in Ardmore for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Raymond Scoggins, brothers: Morris McCown, Alton "Slick" McCown, Leon "Sam" McCown, Hubert McCown, and Vernon "Doc" McCown, and sisters: Lola Swanner and Louise Groce.
 

Surviving are daughter, Martha (Azie Lee) Magnusson of Ardmore, AL, sister, Marjorie Gates of Ardmore, AL, grandchildren: Natalee (Stephen) Pepper of Toney, AL, Chawnta (Brett) Hogan of Athens, AL, Tracy (Nikki) Magnusson of Elkmont, AL, Monica (Newton) Williams of Elkmont, AL, and Crystal (Wade) Boggs of Ardmore, TN, great-grandchildren: Jacqueline, Hulee and Zelia Pepper, Hayden and Keira Hogan, Ben, Scott, and Laura Magnusson, Elizabeth, Samantha and Tabitha Williams, and Aarika and Landon Boggs, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services was at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Jerry Smith, Bro. Alan Hughes, and Bro. Steve Hargrove officiated.  Burial was in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
