Born Wednesday, November 9, 1927 in Elkmont, Alabama, he was the son of the late Aubrey Swanner and the late Lola McCowan Swanner. He drove a truck for 34 years for Alabama Farmers Coop of Morgan County, and for Wal-Mart for ten years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers:
Glen Swanner, LB Swanner,and Marion Swanner, and a sister: Betty Faye
Swanner.
Surviving are sons, Charles Roger (Debra) Swanner of Athens, AL and Bobby Ray Swanner of Athens, AL, daughters, Dianne (Dave) Reece of Athens, AL, Wanda Gail (Gary) Lewis of Athens, AL, Connie (David) Schreiber of Columbia, TN, Rosemary Swanner of Decatur, AL and Charlo (Jim) McCullough of Decatur, AL, brother, Allen Wayne Swanner of Elkmont, AL, twelve grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, special friend: Mary R. Gusich of Vinemont, AL and her children: Joseph and James Gusich of Vinemont, AL.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
