Ronald James Varnagatas Sr., 76, of Athens, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016, at his residence. a
Mr.
Varnagatas was born July 4, 1939, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Victor
and Wilma Lucille Varnagatas. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic
Church, a United States Marine Corps Veteran and retired from Steelcase. Mr. Varnagatas was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Wilma Varnagatas; and by a sister, Elaine White.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra
Varnagatas of Athens; sons, Ronald James Varnagatas Jr. of Athens, Scott
William Varnagatas of Elkmont, Michael Victor Varnagatas of Athens and
Mark Clay Jones of Elkmont; grandchildren, Jill Marie Varnagatas and
William Tyler Varnagatas; sisters, Janice Ballard and Peggy Smith, both
of Grand Rapids, Michigan; brothers, Victor Varnagatas of Rockford,
Michigan and David Varnagatas of Chicago, Illinois.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m.
Saturday, March 19, at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Charles
Alookaran officiating. Spry Funeral Home is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County.
