MAXINE ROBINSON JOHNSON - OBITUARY

Maxine Johnson, 85, Marion, died at 1:50 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, in her home. She was born in Elkmont, Alabama, to the late Richard and Yora (Reese) Robinson. She married Andrew B. Johnson on September 10, 1947, and he preceded her in death on February 27, 2016.
 
Maxine was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church. She enjoyed canning and was the best biscuit maker in the family. She was also known for her biscuits and gravy, as well as her Red Eye Gravy (a mixture of ham grease and coffee). Maxine was very loving and enjoyed being with her family. She loved gardening and fishing with her husband. She also loved shopping and always enjoyed going on her family’s “girl trips.” Every day Maxine used a journal to keep track of the sunrise and sunset. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles. 

Survivors include her children, Andrew Dwight (Cindy) Johnson, Michael (Diana) Johnson, Sandy (Steve Arrendale) Hendey, Kay (Paul) Topping, and Jeff (Vicky) Johnson, all from Marion; 16 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and another great-grandchild due in July; siblings, Jean (Harry) Wilson, Dean Brunson, Alfred (Helen) Robinson, and James Robinson; special neighbor, Ruby Jones; special friend, Janet Williams; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other special friends.

In addition to her parents and husband of 68 years, Maxine was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Robert Robinson.
Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, June 20, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, Marion.
