WILLIAM WELDON THOMAS - OBITUARY

William Weldon Thomas of Elkmont, age 91,  died on Sunday, October 18, 2015, at Athens-Limestone Hospital in Athens, Alabama.
Born Thursday, August 21, 1924 in Ardmore, Alabama to the late Willie & Lottie Hodges Thomas. He moved to Ardmore in 1980 after spending thirty years in Michigan. He was a member of Boyds Chapel Methodist Church and loved fishing, boating, gardening and water skiing. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII, surviving the Battle of the Bulge.


He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Brymer Thomas, four brothers, Jessie, Eddie, Carl, and JC Thomas, granddaughter, Rauvon Smith.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Thomas, Elkmont, AL, daughters, Joyce Thomas Smith of Byron, MI, Brenda Thomas, Redford, MI, step-sons, Gary (Sarah) Snow, Tampa, FL, Kevin (Pam), Clermont, FL, Kelly (Del) Snow, Fairfield, CA, Steve Snow, Cape Coral, FL, step-daughters, Charlotte (Rod) Barkley, Cape Coral, FL, Sherry Spencer, Tampa, FL, Dianne Snow, Anderson, SC, sister, Avis Thomas Crunk, Huntsville, AL, fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and good friend, Emma Godfrey.


Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with David Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mt Pleasant Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.  In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to: Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
