Funeral service for James Allen Gatlin, age 69, of Priceville, will be Friday, May 25, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Malcolm Larkin and Rev. Charles Brown officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 24, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Gatlin, who died Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at his residence, was born October 13, 1942, in Limestone County, to Osbon Gatlin and Evie Lee Clem Gatlin. He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, James Houston Moody; and three brothers, Thomas Gatlin, David O'Neal Gatlin, and Stanley Gatlin. Mr. Gatlin was retired from ConAgra, and for many years he owned/operated The BBQ Smokehouse in Priceville. He attended Priceville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Libby Downs Gatlin of Priceville; one son, James Eric Gatlin of Priceville; one daughter, Mechelle Renee Moody of Somerville; four stepsons, Joey Lee Clark of Somerville, Jimmy Boyd Clark of Hartselle, Bobby David Clark of Priceville and Timothy Gene Clark of Cullman; four grandchildren, James Dustin Gatlin and Ashley Nicole Gatlin, both of Eva, and James Auston Moody and Logan Chase Moody, both of Somerville; 11 step-grandchildren; three brothers, Billy Wayne Gatlin of Greenbrier, Larry Gatlin of Minor Hill, TN, and Tim Gatlin of Hillsboro; five sisters, Judy Terry of Athens, Sue Farris of Pulaski, TN, Bobby Harvey of Anderson, Mickie Wales of Ardmore, and Pam Cox of Elkmont.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
