A powerful rushing attack, lead by Terrance Byrd and Chander Brown, lead Deshler to a 49-14 win over Elkmont and gave the Tigers a hold on fourth place in the region. Deshler entered the region matchup a game behind Elkmont in fifth place in the region.
However, 21 first half
points and 28 points in the third quarter was too much for the Red
Devils to handle and Deshler took over sole position of fourth place in
the region. Byrd rushed for 162 yards
on 11 carries and one touchdown for the Tigers, while Brown finished
with 154 yards and three touchdowns.
Deshler, 5-3, 3-3, took a
quick lead on two first-quarter Brown touchdowns runs of 27 yards and
eight yards. Carson McGregory kicked the first of seven extra points in
the opening quarter. In the second quarter quarterback Sam Howard passed 20 yards to Brown pushing the lead to 21-0 at the half.
On the first play of the second half, Byrd broke free and raced 70 yards for a touchdown. The kick made it 28-0. Minutes later, after the Tiger’s defense held Elkmont, Howard connected with B.J. Bailey for 20 yards and a touchdown. Moments later the Howard to Bailey combination connected again this time for 16 yards.

Near the end of the third-quarter, Maleek Qualls intersection a Elkmont pass and ran 45 yards for a touchdown.
Elkmont will be traveling to Lauderdale County next week.
Injury Report:
Rhett has a strained and bruised tendon in knee. Lots of swelling, but thank goodness nothing is torn. He also has a Grade 2 sprained ankle. Going into a boot. Time, rest, ice, therapy and he should be good as new in a couple of weeks!!!!
