ELKMONT RUNNERS ARE THE CRAZIEST PEOPLE....

Several Elkmont runners braved the cold temperatures on Saturday morning to run the Xterra 4 mile race on Monte Sano.  This was a great race put on by Dirty Spokes Productions out of Dacula, GA.  Race Director, Tim Schroer, did an amazing job with the event!  From making last minute registration changes, to patrolling the parking lot on a bicycle while making announcements like the town crier to VERY punctual race starts, to the quick posting of race results and the awards ceremony, this was a very well organized race.

Often while running, one can enjoy the scenery – not at this race!  The trail is what one would call “technical”.  This means there are roots, rocks and other obstacles that the runner must maneuver through/around while trying not to eat dirt, which many runners did, including some of our crew!  Elkmont runners were fortunate in that their tumbles didn’t result in any injuries and they were able to complete the race!

Congrats to Gretta for placing first in her age group and to Jennie and Anne for placing second in their age groups!  You do know that it is never polite to ask a lady what age group she is in?
