KALYNN CLINARD IS COMPETING IN OKLAHOMA CITY

Kalynn Clinard, 20 year old daughter of Tammy and Lynn Clinard of Elkmont, is the 2014 Miss Limestone Sheriff's Rodeo.  She will compete in the Miss Rodeo USA Pageant Jan. 11 -18 in Oklahoma City for prizes, sponsorships, and scholarships.  If Kaylnn wins,  she will be the first Miss Rodeo USA born and raised in Limestone County.

"In a rodeo pageant, you really do ride horses and as a rodeo queen you are on so many horses.  There is no limit to your job.  You can't just go out there and look pretty. You have to put talent and knowledge together."

Kalynn wanted to compete in barrel racing and breakaway rope but the travel commitment was too difficult for her and her family. However, pageants were a way she could be involved without having to travel.

Her favorite part of competing in rodeo pageants is the horsemanship.  A large part of the competition is riding an unknown horse selected in a lottery.  Kalynn has to memorize a pattern in 15 minutes, and convince her horse to work for her.

"I like being with people and meeting new people. One of my favorite events has been the Special Needs Rodeo and the kids I got to work with.
