William “Jim” Williams went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 10, 2015. He started the day celebrating his 83 years on earth with family and friends. He ended his day in the company of those who went before him celebrating his eternal life. There to welcome him home were his parents, Nolan and Marietta Williams, siblings, Pauline, Ray, Faye and Bobby Jack, his daughter, Carla his much loved Louise and countless others. If only we could all be so fortunate.
Born January 10, 1932 in Winston County, Mr. Williams was a 35 year resident of Limestone County. He was a retired TVA employee and member of New Life Assembly of God in Athens, serving on the board as a Deacon for many years. He served his country as well, enlisting in the Army 1951-52. Known to many as Lightnin’ for his striking personality, Jim will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Carolyn Williams; children, Shirley Johnson and husband Dave, Pam Reyes and husband Gil, David Williams and Etta Durbin; step-children, Michael and Wendy Ferguson of Elkmont, Charles and Susan; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; his sister, Merlene Brown; brother, Larry Williams and wife Janice and so many loving cousins, nieces and nephews also morn his passing, but look toward the day when they will meet again. Farewell for a time, sweet Papaw.

Services will be Wednesday, January 14, 2014 11:00 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 13, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be a t Limestone Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be David Williams, Steven Johnson, Joshua Durbin, Travis Wrightington, Will Ferguson and Ben Ferguson of Elkmont.
