For the first two quarters of Tuesday night’s game against Clements, Elkmont’s players nearly wore themselves out with a full-court press, only to trail at halftime. Elkmont head coach Garth Garris knew just what to do.
The Red Devils adjusted with a half-court press in the second half and came away with a 52-38 win to remain undefeated in Class 3A Area 15.
“Clements always plays us hard, and tonight was no different,” Garris said. “They attack the basket hard and are always a tough matchup for us.
“We wanted to have that up-tempo pace we had in the second half from the start. We made some changes in that third quarter, going to the half-court trap that led to some turnovers and easy baskets.”
