COLD IN JANUARY WITH A HINT OF SNOW

The Hill Spirit's favorite weather forecaster is Joe Bastardi.  If you are a Fox News fan, you may have seen him.  Whenever Fox wants to talk weather, they tap him for an appearance.  He has his own ideas and believes that weather happening now, has happened in the past.  If you study long term weather patterns (not just the last 50 years), it is possible to predict future weather because it follows cycles.  I wanted to share his forecast for January with you.

Old January Forecast:

Updated January Forecast: I wish the new map was posted as a photo but it isn't.  The map is colder and Alabama is now in the 4 degrees below normal circle.

" The new January outlook is here. We have had a cold January now for a couple of months and I have made it even colder, further southeast than the original core.THE SOUTHEAST WARMTH WILL BE ROUTED IN THIS PATTERN. Their above normal regime is about to come to a crashing end and the next 20-30 days are likely to be at least a few degrees below normal if not more.  The point is that the models are colder, but are liable to get colder in the longer term.

Brutal sub zero cold the next 16 days is likely some mornings down to the Tennessee Valley and freezing temperatures to a least northern Florida"

Might want to stock up on orange juice - prices could be going up.

"So, in summary:
Weather trends are looking like a steady supply of brutal arctic air will be coming to the lower 48 states.

The snow pack will gradually deepen and extend south as the cold air masses flood the nation.

Until strong blocking begins, the winds in Canada will steer the cold highs more to the east through the northern and interior Gulf states. This could bring a snow event early in January.  Factors suggest that blocking should develop and when the high latitude blocking increases, the vortex will be forced south and the cold will reach deeper into the south.
There are strong indications that suggest the warm up that comes after the severe cold attack of the next 10 days will once again be met with a cold counter attack later in the month"

Models are starting to show snow by January 7th.
