Obituary: 
Johnnie D. Adams Jr. age 88 of Athens, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Adams was born January 19, 1926 in Limestone County to Johnnie D. Adams Sr. and Lillian Mary Kelly Adams.  He retired from TVA after 33 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII and was on The Honor Flight.

Services for Mr. Adams are Monday, January 27, 2014 at First Pentecostal Church at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2014 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Limestone Memorial Gardens with Bro. Rick Craft officiating. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Crawford Adams; daughters, Geraldine Yarnall and husband Skip and Shirley Guthrie and husband Lavern; sons, Jerry W. Adams and wife Susan, Michael C. Adams, Jonathan L. Adams and wife Lisa and Timothy E. Adams; brother, Charles Edward Adams; sister, Lucille Tucker; daughter-in-law, Joyce Adams; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his son, Bobby R. Adams; mother and father, Johnnie D. Adams Sr. and Lillian Mary Kelly Adams; grandson, Shawn Blades; brothers, Edison Adams and Ezra Adams; sister, Onnie Mae Hicks; sister-in-law, Martha Adams.

Pallbearers are Brian Martin, Heath Guthrie, Spencer Guthrie, Levi Adams, Eric Adams, Eli Adams, Chris Adams and Caleb Adams. Honorary pallbearer is Tim Adams.
