The EHS XC team opened their season last week by hosting the Elkmont Invitational on Thursday, August 28. The meet was attended by 7 other teams: Ardmore, Athens, Austin, Buckhorn, Clements, Mars Hill Bible and West Limestone.
The meet started out with the boys and girls JV race at 3:30. The JV race is a 2.1 mile course starting on the hill on Church St. And finishing on the trail after going out to the turnaround about 3/4 of a mile down the trail. T-shirts were awarded to the top 5 finishers in each division.
The JV boys race had 24 runners and was led by Easton Williamson from Austin with time of 13:12, helping his team to walk away with the first place trophy! West Limestone took second place.
Other schools represented in the JV Boys were Elkmont and Mars Hill Bible, however, they didn't receive team scores because you must have 5 runners competing in a race to score.

The JV Girls were represented by three schools, Elkmont, Austin and West Limestone. The race had 14 runners and was won by Cassidy Winter from West Limestone with a time of 14:40.
The score was close, but Elkmont's JV Girls edged out West Limestone's girls to take home the first place trophy!

The Varsity races are 3.1 miles long and also start at the base of the Church St hill. They also finish on the trail after going out to the turn around approximately 1.25 miles down the trail. Buckhorn's Amelia Harrison won the girls race with a great early season time of 20:37!

The ladies of West Limestone edged out the ladies of Buckhorn, using the 6th place runner from each team as the tie breaker!! The Lady Red Devils came in third, followed by Austin and Ardmore.
The Varsity Boys were led by Buckhorn's Graylon Cross, who finished the 3.1 mile course in 18:20!
