HARVEY JACKSON POPE - OBITUARY

The funeral service for Harvey Jackson Pope, age 89 of Elkmont, will be Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 10 A.M. at McConnell Memorial Chapel with brother Anthony Anderson and brother Dwight Rayburn officiating. Visitation will be Friday September 5, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at McConnell funeral home: burial in New Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Pope was born January 25, 1925 in Limestone County to Mason Clifford Pope and Alta Mae Sullivan Pope. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Beulah P. Pope, daughter, Kay Tarpley, granddaughter, Tanya Pope, great-grandchild, Victoria Elmore, sisters, Era Davis, Judy Ann Collins, and Elizabeth Pope.


He is survived by 3 sons, Billy Pope, Sr. and wife Pat of Athens; Larry Jackson Pope and wife Jewel; and Tony Ray Pope all Elkmont; 2 daughters, Betty "Wise" Stanford and husband Davey; and Shirley Morris all of Athens; 2 sisters Joyce and June, 16 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.


Mr. Pope was a World War II veteran: he was retired from Redstone Arsenal and Ross Breeders: he was the owner and operator of Wavho Service Station.


Pallbearers will be Stacey Pope, Tony Pope, Jr., Jeremy Pope, Steven Thomas, Michael Elmore and Jason Pope Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Elmore and Larry Jackson Pope, Jr.
