DELAY BEING PREPARED DAY

The state is postponing plans to focus attention on preparing for extreme weather because of the winter weather threat. This Friday was supposed to be "Ready Alabama Preparedness Day."

But the state says it's delaying the event out of caution and concern for the safety of students and first responders. The National Weather Service says the season's coldest-weather yet is barreling toward Alabama, and it could bring winter precipitation across northern counties. Single-digit wind-chill values could make it dangerous to be outside for very long.

A sales tax holiday is still being held despite the delay. Shoppers can purchase storm-preparation items without paying the state sales tax Friday through Sunday.

Hill Spirit Note:
You know it is bad when you delay being prepared because you need to get prepared.
