WHAT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT DOES ON VALENTINE'S DAY

Our Elkmont Fire Department spent their Valentine's Day at Happy Hollow Road fighting a field fire. This fire was caused when a trash fire got out of control because of windy conditions.

The fire burned through three unoccupied mobile homes.  The brush, briars, and other assorted stuff in the area made fighting the flames more difficult. The various departments that responded to the fire left around 5 pm but were called back around 7 pm after the wind kicked up ashes and rekindled the fire. A fourth abandoned mobile home was destroyed. The fire was contained and out by 9:30 pm.
