MEET THE KICKING RED DEVILS SOCCER TEAM

Elkmont High School has added a new spring sport with men and women’s soccer teams.  The Red Devils will start the season, February 10, with a travel date to Muscle Shoals; kickoff at 5 pm.

MEET THE COACH

Will Hinton went to Central High School in Florence and played baseball. After he graduated from the university of North Alabama, he taught four years at Loretto, Tennessee and was the head soccer coach.  He received his Masters in Education Administration at UNA.  During his mentorship, Hinton worked with Garth Garris, our principal.  When it was decided to add soccer to Elkmont’s slate of sports, Mr. Garris had him on his short list.  Coach Hinton joined the middle school staff this year as one of our math teachers.  He and his lovely wife, Krista, have an adorable three year old, Gracie Mae. 

PHILOSOPHY

Will Hinton believes soccer is more than just a sport. It is a way to reach athletes who haven’t had a change to play.  He wants to instill a winning attitude as his players learn to compete hard, create goals in life, build character and understand working with a team.

MEET THE TEAM

The Elkmont Red Devils will field a varsity team this year.  The Kicking Red Devils have a roster of seventeen players with only two seniors and one junior. There is a strong core of experienced players who understand the game and will provide leadership to the young team.  The other teams in their area are Ardmore and West Limestone.  Even though this is the first year for soccer at Elkmont High School, Coach Hinton believes his team will be competitive and hope to make the playoffs.
