WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT ELKMONT LADY DEVILS SOCCER?

The Elkmont fledgling  boys soccer program played its first game yesterday at Muscle Shoals.  They played well but the more experienced Trojans won, 2-0.

February 12 is the first game for our girls team. They will be playing at West Morgan @ 5 pm.  It’s time to meet the Kicking Lady Devils.

MEET THE COACH
Emily Reeves is one of our seventh grade teachers, joining the staff this year.  She grew up in Decatur and still lives there with her 3 year old daughter, Lenox.  Her path to teaching began at Calhoun and ended at Athens State with her bachelor degree in Secondary Education, English.

Coach Reeves started playing early and became part of the River City Raptors Club soccer team during her middle school years.  She continued to play for them during high school. She was promoted to the Austin High varsity team as an eighth grader.  Reeves chose to concentrate on her the River City Raptors team her senior year, passing up the chance to play her last year at Austin.    She has 15 years of soccer experience and played throughout the Southeast.

One of her passions is her annual summer mission trip to Peru where she works with children.  Her soccer experience enables her to connect with these young people as a friend as well as a teacher.

PHILOSOPHY
Coach Reeves is starting on the ground floor as she builds Elkmont’s girls program. With a young team, no seniors, and little player soccer experience, her focus is to build knowledge and skill this year.  She believes that developing a successful and established program requires the aspects of character, hard work, discipline and team cohesiveness.   Reeves’ goal is to build for the future by encouraging young players and bringing fun to Elkmont soccer. Creating an environment where the girls want to be and look forward to playing is the foundation to build a competitive program.
