JAMES DOUGLAS NEWBY, SR. - OBITUARY

James Douglas Newby, Sr. age 83 of Athens, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Huntsville Hospital. Mr. Newby was born February 25, 1931 in Limestone County, AL to John Holmes Newby and Mrytle Ozell Newby.

Services will be Sunday, February 22, 2015 2:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Robert Fudge and Donnie Rodgers officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, February 21, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Newby was a Veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Ephesus Church of Christ.

Preceded in death by a son, James “Jim” D. Newby, Jr.

Survived by his wife, Martha S. Newby; two daughters, Pamela Newell and Deborah Williams; daughter-in-law, Michele Newby; six grandchildren, Nicci Hills, Steve Williams, Hollie Tyler, Spencer Williams, Brittany Newby and Chance Newby; nine great- grandchildren; numerous other family, friends and his coffee drinking buddies.

Pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Spencer Williams, Chance Newby, Lane Hills, Hayden Farmer, Clayton White and Cody Hills. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryce Williams, Kolby Williams, Kingston Newby and Cameron Newby.
