BARRY'S CORNER - LIVING IN ELKMONT

Laying down tonight and just can’t get the senseless killing at a Florida high school out of my mind. We have to wake up and realize that our children are being failed. Our society has become one of entitlement. The belief of “I deserve what everyone else has just because I exist.” 

This is creating a problem of low self esteem in children and creating a false sense of importance. Feelings of others and the sanctity of life becomes second in their pursuit of justifying themselves and their own feelings. Giving them everything and leading them to believe that what they need and want is the most important priority in parents lives is a mistake! Our parental priority should be to create a thinking child who will become a productive adult sure in his or her own skin. Gaining this through working, improving and earning his own self worth. Schools can not raise kids! Parents have to step up! Giving them everything, fighting their battles, allowing slacking and just basically giving in to their wants is harmful! My take! Have a good one!
