On April 8, Elkmont fourth grade students were able to attend the 17th annual Ground Water Festival on the Athens State University Campus.
The event featured an ecological-friendly show by magician Steve Trash. The festival is designed to educate students about groundwater as a natural resource; what it is, how it works, and its environmental benefits.
Students were involved in hands-on activities to learn about the water cycle, the water filtration process, and the function of wells in supplying water. Some of these activities included stringing water cycle bracelets and making edible aquifers.
