Early this morning a glorious sunrise was showing off some beautiful red colors but it clouded over quickly. The Hilltop can expect rain later today.

The heavier showers and a few thunderstorms this afternoon through the evening hours. The showers and storms will develop along a cold front from west to east. Rain will be in northwest Alabama around 4-5 PM as it works east across the metro impacting the evening commute. Expect conditions to improve by 11pm as the system exits the area with clearing overnight into Thursday.
