LAYNE DAVIS AND DIXIE BRING HOME TENNESSEE GOLD

The 41st Annual Decatur County’s World’s Largest Coon Hunt Benefit for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Parsons, Tennessee at the Decatur County Fairgrounds was April 9-11, 2016Competitors from around the country come to enjoy the hunts and dog show.

Elkmont's Layne Davis and
his Treeing Walker Coonhound, Dixie, were there as well.  As the young team has continued to gain show experience, their efforts paid off with a win at the World's Largest Coon Hunt event.  Dixie was crowned the best champion female this year.

Layne and his father, Chris Davis, have taken Dixie to several local events as well as National Events. A winning dog must have excellent conformation (a real looker) but be trained in show etiquette. It takes hours of training to be show ready.

More information about the event:
United Kennel Club, Inc. realizes the importance of supporting charitable organizations and helps any club that is hosting a UKC Licensed benefit event to raise money for recognized charities. In this case, Decatur County’s World’s Largest Coon Hunt will donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, as it has continued to do annually for over 40years.

“I have attended most of the major Coon Hound events around the country and nothing quite compares to Decatur County’s World’s Largest Coon Hunt Benefit,” Vice President of UKC Events Todd Kellam said.

“It is truly unique in the way the local community comes out to support this most worthy event. When you combine the support of Decatur County and Parsons with the participation of some of the top nite hunt and bench show competitors from around the country, the result is a coonhound event with an atmosphere unlike any other. Not only do the kids of St. Jude benefit from its success, but the whole sport does as well,” Kellam added.
