STRONG WINDS TODAY?
There is a marginal risk for severe storms today and tonight for areas west of Interstate 65. Thunderstorms currently ongoing across Arkansas should spread into NW Alabama late this morning/early this afternoon. Storms will then become more widespread as a cold front begins to approach the area this afternoon/evening. According to channel 48, the timing of these storms in the Elkmont area is between 4 and 6 pm.
The primary hazards today will be wind gusts up to 60 mph (which may be able to knock down small trees and tree limbs), small hail, frequent lightning. There is also a risk for localized flooding mainly in urban areas.
