A new great place to eat has opened in Elkmont. Located in the little blue building across from the downtown Church of Christ, Cindy Lou's is where to find the simple but yummy things.
Cindy Bridges started her journey at Ottawa, Illinois before heading to southern Alabama. Both sides of her family are "cooking" families and she has blended her father's German heritage cooking with her mamma's Southern cooking into something just her own.
Along the way she has traveled to many countries and her favorite things about each place was always the food. She finally found her home when she came to Elkmont. Cindy followed her passion as she studied the culinary arts at the Art Institute of Tennessee in Nashville. She worked as Belle Chevre's chef for several years before deciding to step out on her own with Cindy Lou's.
Her philosophy about cooking is that "if God didn't make it, don't use it" which leads her to constantly search for locally grown, fresh ingredients for her creations. The meat used comes from a "The Butcher Shopp" in Pulaski, Tennesssee. Strawberries are in season at the moment and those local berries are finding their way into homemade strawberry pies, none of that artificial gel stuff in her pies.
Cindy Lou's menu is simple with a few items offered each day. However, there is always something different to be found because of her passion for seasonal cooking . Cindy is offering delivery
within the Elkmont city limits to businesses, churches, organizations and Elkmont School. Come try a little homemade southern cooking, fresh hamburgers daily. Home of the mushroom Swiss burger and much more!
