WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE BIKES IN ELKMONT?

Have you wondered why there are so many bikes around lately? You may have seen groups of determined looking bikers coming through Elkmont for the last month.  They are in training for big MS Bike Race,  June 6.  The races come through Elkmont and one of the main stops is at the fire station.

WHERE:
On the morning of June 6th, riders will converge on Athens, Alabama, where a secure staging area at the Athens-Limestone County Hospital Health and Wellness Center will serve as the start/finish line for the 25, 45, 75, and 100 mile route options taking riders along the cyclist-friendly and well-marked Noah Bike Trail (through and around Elkmont) and even into the southern boundary of the state of Tennessee in this great, one day event.

The routes traverse historic towns and points of interest throughout north Alabama's Tennessee River valley taking cylcists through beautiful and undulating countryside. The course and participants will be fully supported with frequent, well-stocked rest stops, mechanical support, and SAG (Support and Gear) vehicles. Arriving back in downtown Athens after a great day riding, cyclists will participate in an interactive cycling village replete with on-site mechanical support, live entertainment, and camaraderie from hundreds of fellow cyclists. With the Athens-Limestone Hospital Wellness Center as our host site, enjoy massages and hot showers post-ride.  End the day with hamburgers and hot dogs cooked to order at our post-ride cookout.
