TOWN COUNCIL VISITS STORM SHELTER

Our community storm shelter on Sandlin Road opened in April.  It will allow those in Elkmont to have another place to find safety during severe weather.  The town council recently took an official visit to see what is available when it is needed.

As you can see, it has bathrooms and a few chairs but this a very bare bones, no bells and whistles shelter.  If you are looking for comfort, please bring what you need.  Please remember that space is at a premium so check before you bring something in.  If it is crowded, leave what you can in the car.  One of our ever ready fire fighters can give you guidance if you need help deciding.  The shelter is open when a tornado watch or warning is issued.
