COON HOUNDS ARE BEAUTIFUL TOO

Elkmont's Layne Davis, and his Treeing Walker Coonhound recently competed and won their division in the United Kennel Club Regional Qualifying Event in Tuscaloosa. Dixie competed against outstanding coon hounds of various breeds. This beautiful two year old dog's official name is CH 'PR' Davis' Black Creek Dixie.

Layne and his father, Chris Davis, have taken to Dixie to several local events as well as National Events. A winning dog must have excellent conformation (a real looker) but be trained in show etiquette. It takes hours of training to be show ready.

Since Layne and Dixie won the Regional Qualifier, they are eligible to compete in the World Championships, usually in Illinois. Dixie and her owner are gaining experience as they compete in these dog shows and working toward the goal of entering the World Championship.
