J.T. was preceded in death by his wife: Virginia Lawrence, parents: Ernest and Lilly Lawrence, four brothers and six sisters.
Services will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 2:00pm at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Mark Johnson officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 12:00pm until 1:45pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
He is survived by three sons: Calvin Lawrence and wife Sheila of Decatur, James Lawrence and wife Jennifer of Athens and Anthony Lawrence and wife Kathy of Athens, three daughters: Gail Wales and husband Hugh of Athens, Donna Beasley and husband Tommy of Lester and Daphney Lawrence and boyfriend Marty Dollins of Elkmont, one brother: Ozro Lawrence and wife Louis Ann of Athens, ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend and caregiver: Betty Thompson of Athens, caregivers: Carol Lopez of Athens and Brenda Martindale of Elkmont.
The family would like to give a very special thanks to Dr. Ernest Hendrix, the staff at Athens Limestone Hospital and Hospice of Limestone County.
Pallbearers will be: Bud Hill, Buck Marlow, Mark Wales, David Lawrence, Thomas Shedd and Bennie Hill.
J.T. was the retired owner of J & V Grocery and a member of Salem Church of Christ.
